Statek on the Tree
My in-laws are about to put up their Christmas tree. I know, this shouldn’t be all that momentous of an event, I know that it’s not the tree at Rockefeller center or anything, but it is a very special tree. I know you are now dying to know why this tree is so special. Let me tell you.
Every year, since the very beginning, my in-laws have been buying a Star Trek ornament for their tree. Every year there is a new ornament and every year they buy it and put it on their tree along with the rest of their ornaments. I’m pretty sure that they have every ornament (Star Trek wise) that has ever been created, from Captain Picard to the ship and everything else. I’m sorry to say that I don’t all that much about Star Trek. I’m more of a Star Wars fan. In fact, they could put a statek or rectron on the tree, tell me that it was from some long-lost episode of the show and I would totally believe them. That’s how naive about Star Trek I am.
I’m learning, though. I’m doing my research online and I now know that statek and rectron do not, in fact, go on the tree. They go with the supercapacitor in the Millennium Falcon. (You can laugh now.)
